POWERPOINT

Q. I'm noticing that my PowerPoint presentation is getting to be really large file (taking up a lot of memory). Is there anything I can do to reduce the file size without removing some of the content?
A. Check to be sure that you have inserted your images and not pasted them into your PowerPoint presentation. Inserting your images will keep the file size much smaller.

Q. How do I print just the slides of the PPT without the background?
A. With the printing dialog box open in PowerPoint, choose "Pure Black and White" from the Color/Gray Scale drop down menu.

EQUIPMENT

Q. What kinds of scanners do you have available, and will somebody be able to help me?
A. There is a Document and Image scanner located in the ITS office. The Copy Center also has a Document Feed Scanner for multiple page document jobs.

Q. I have to give a lecture/presentation, but I don't have a laptop or projector. Do you have one I can borrow?
A. . Stop by the Tech Center to reserve the equipment. It is strongly recommended that you make your reservation well in advance of your lecture/presentation to ensure that the equipment isn't already signed out.

GENERAL FACULTY QUESTIONS

Q. I'm interested in creating a web-based project for my students. Could we meet to talk about the possibilities? (e-curriculum projects)
A. Yes! Feel free to swing by the ITS office, and we'd be happy to discuss some project ideas. If you already have learning objectives written for your idea, those would be helpful to bring to our first meeting.

Q. I'd like to deliver an upcoming test online. Can you help me put it together? (e-learning assessment)
A. Yes! Just get in touch with us and we can review the test content and available delivery methods with you.

Q. I want to make sure my course's learning objectives are aligned with my test questions. Can you assist me with this? (pedagogical support/ faculty coaching and faculty-requested projects)
A. Yes. We are more than happy to provide this type of pedagogical support. We can set up a meeting to review your course materials and to make sure that your test questions are well designed to measure your student's mastery of your learning objectives.

Q. I have some slides I'd like to digitize. Can someone from your office help me? (Digitization/media translation/scanning)
A. We suggest the Copy Center for a digitization service. If you would like to learn how, ITS can help you digitize slides and scan images, and documents.

Q. There are a few concepts that my students are having difficulty visualizing. Can you help me create an animation or other type of visual aid to address this teaching challenge? (information visualization/ animation/simulation projects)
A. Yes. Our instructional design team can help you create a simple animation or sequence of images to help your students with visualization. We welcome you to swing by our office to review your content and objectives.
